On Labor Day weekend 2010 we camped at one of our favorite spots: Sardine Lake. The weather was perfect. We were joined by good friends Rob, Janet and Cameron. Garrett had his first kayaking adventure in our new kayak. He went around the lake by himself. All of us hiked to upper Sardine Lake and screamed when we jumped in the snow fed lake. Except for Shasta, who went swimming again, and again and .......
In August 2010, Garrett, Dad and Shasta went camping for a week without Mom. We spent our first night at the Silver Fork campground on the Silver Fork of the American River. It is miles of water going down a granite boulder canyon. After that, we went to Woods Lake, at the top of the Carson Pass, Highway 88. There, we met another Father with three boys. Garret was excited that he had kids his age to hang out with. We hiked and fished together. Garrett caught his first fish unassisted. In the next 45 minutes he caught 4 more Trout. On the way back we stopped at Silver Lake and hiked down to some swimming holes in another granite lined canyon.
Over the 4th of July weekend, 2010, we went camping with Chris and Kathy at Ft Bragg. We kayaked in the ocean, went bike riding, hiking and played on the beach. A "sneaker wave" caught Garrett and Dad on one beach, and you can see the sand and water all over his face. The weather was unusually good for this time of year, mostly warm and sunny, instead of the usual fog and rain.
We camped at Sardine Lakes Labor Day weekend 2009, with Mike and Julia, Janet and Cheryl (and of course Oscar and Shasta).
George, Lisa, Garrett and Shasta went camping in Oregon, August 2009. We camped at Crater Lake, Lake Paulina (where we saw the Obsidion flow that occurred 1,300 years ago), the High Desert Museum in Bend, and finally Castle Crags State Park near Mount Shasta.
In early August 2009 Dad surprised Garrett with a trip to Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Knotts Berry Soak Farm and Medieval Nights (Dinner and Jousting show). Garrett didnt know about the trip until about two hours before the plane left the ground.
In 2009 Garrett, Shasta and George went camping at Woods Lake, which is near the top of the Carson Pass, Highway 88. This is where George first started camping when he was a kid. Garrett hiked 5 miles to the base of Round Top, where we played in Lake Winnemucca and on a snow bank.
Here is pictures of our July 4th, 2009, camping weekend at Loon Lake with Cal, Linda, Maddie, Cheryl, Oscar, Kathie, Chris, Greg Cindy, Gavin, Ayden, Janet, Rob, and of course George, Lisa, Garrett and Shasta. The three dogs had an especially good time and were worn out each night.
Here is most hilarious 9-1-1 call ever made. This call is real, but beware, it does contain foul language.
Labor Day Weekend 2008 we were invited to our good friends Cal and Linda's beautiful beach house in Santa Cruz. Other than one day at the Boardwalk, we spent most of our time on the beach, and enjoyed some great weather. Linda did a wonderful job decorating the beach house. Cal and friends did some great cooking. We had a wonderful time. We also got to spend time with our good friends Kim and Dave. About half of these pictures were taken by Garrett, our little camera man!
We went to San Diego in early July, 2008. High/Lo of 75/65 and no fire smoke. We went to Sea World two days, the San Diego Zoo one day, and toured the San Diego Bay, the USS Midway, Coronado Island and Balboa Park the last two days. What a beautiful place!! We loved it so much we bought a four bedroom beach house in Coronado, in our dreams :)
In May, 2008, George and Garrett (Lisa wasn't feeling well) went to Yosemite.
Two day motorcycle ride to Ft. Bragg with Monte Leveaux, Don Attix and Rob Rich.
In December 2010 we went to visit the Tyree's (Lisa's Family) in Salem, Oregon, for Christmas. After that, we went to Bend Oregon and stayed at Seventh Mountain Resort and skied 3 days at beautiful Mt. Bachelor. The first ski day was a blizzard, with a high of 10 degrees. This was followed by 2 bluebird days, with a high of 9 degrees and tons of fresh powder.
In June, 2012, we took a 10 day cruise to Alaska, starting in SF and stopping at Juneau, Skagway, Ketchican and
Victoria, BC.
We bought a used Sea Ray boat and took it out to Folsom Lake the first time on March 24, 2013. Even though it
was spring like conditions, the water still felt like winter!
In June, 2013, we took our Sea Ray to Bullards Bar lake because there were hydroplane races on Lake Folsom.
WE LOVE THIS LAKE!! Here is a video of us skiing and tubing!
